NordicTrack C 1650 Review

Quick Summary

The C 1650 leads NordicTrack’s C Series of affordable home treadmills. It has an extensive menu of preset training programs and an appealing mix of tech for entertainment. Treadmills in the C Series have small rollers compared with the pricier NordicTracks, but the C 1650 still carries the brand’s longest warranty. This product is a great option for walkers and runners of most sizes. Our main caution is that NordicTrack’s customer service tends to be inefficient at times.

Full Review

The NordicTrack C 1650 has the same horsepower as treadmills far above its price point. With a 3.5 CHP motor and a top speed of 12 mph, it can handle a typical trainee’s workouts without any strain. It stands out from competitors with a bevy of creature comforts including a 10″ touch screen, a web browser, iPod compatibility, and more.

Training guidance is extensive. The C 1650 has 34 apps designed by a certified personal trainer. These are grouped by workout goal (like weight loss or speed training). It’s also iFit-enabled for automated data tracking and almost endless workout variety.

Perhaps the most appealing feature on this treadmill is the large full-color touch screen. This console feature serves as both a control center for workout programming and a screen for browsing the web. Additional on-board entertainment includes an iPod-compatible port with speakers and a holder for your own tablet computer. The computer bracket is adjustable and located above the console, so anyone can get a great view without obstructing the treadmill’s touch screen display.

Workout Programs

Keep fit with guidance from 34 built-in workout apps. The NordicTrack C 1650’s programs were designed by a certified personal trainer and are grouped into four categories: calorie burn, heart rate control, interval training, and speed training. Each app takes the guesswork out of training by adjusting the treadmill’s speed and incline. The upper limits are 12 mph and 12% incline.

Not enough? Good news. The C 1650 Treadmill is also iFit-enabled for unlimited workout variety. With an iFit subscription, you can access iFit’s benefits on your own mobile device. Download a new and personalized routine daily, access hundreds of video workouts, virtually race against Facebook friends, and track your data long-term. Best of all are iFit’s Google Maps workouts. This feature lets you specify any real-life route and virtually experience it on your treadmill. As the C 1650 automatically inclines to simulate the terrain, the Google Street View will show on the console screen or your mobile device.

Heart rate monitoring is supported as well. The NordicTrack C 1650 Treadmill has contact pulse grips and is compatible with a chest strap for wireless monitoring.

The NordicTrack brand stands out with its focus on features. On the C 1650 Treadmill, features range from a power incline to support for digital entertainment.

Motivated by music? Connect your MP3 player and play tunes through the treadmill console’s 2″ speakers.

To go online during workouts through the C 1650’s full-color 10″ touch screen and Android browser. To access your own apps, set your tablet computer or smartphone in the treadmill’s sturdy adjustable-angle bracket.

To keep cool, use the console’s AutoBreeze workout fan. It can automatically adjusts speed to match your workout intensity.

On/off cushioning is another NordicTrack feature. FlexSelect™ cushioning on the 20″ x 60″ track can be used for impact reduction or deactivated to approximate an outdoor running surface.

Adjusting your workout program at any time is safe and convenient. OneTouch controls on the handlebars let you alter the C 1650’s speed and incline without missing a beat.

A final feature is SpaceSaver technology. When workout time is over, you can easily fold the treadmill deck upward to reveal more floor space.

The NordicTrack C 1650 is a best buy at the $1,349 sale price. It’s powerful enough for intense training and is loaded with features to make exercise sessions appealing. Even so, be sure to compare prices before you commit. Occasionally higher end NordicTrack treadmills series are sold for a similar price during sales.
