Horizon Fitness is a leading US brand of mid-priced ellipticals and other trainers for home gyms. It's based in Wisconsin and owned by Johnson Fitness, which also manufactures commercial fitness equipment. Horizon ellipticals have a wide price range, are easy to assemble, and are backed by good customer service. Most importantly, Horizon ellipticals are ergonomically smart; they follow a six-part plan for great biomechanics. All include preset workouts too and are compatible with high-def Virtual Active videos. These virtual reality videos adjust to your speed and feature sights and sounds from scenic destinations worldwide.
Horizon ellipticals are priced from $649 to $1,899. All are space-saving with front drive designs, and some of these ellipticals can be folded for compact storage. The cheapest elliptical, the EX-59, has an 18” stride that’s ideal for shorter trainees. The others have 20” strides. Horizon ellipticals fit a wide range of home fitness budgets and are backed by good customer service. Each machine is ergonomically smart, following a six-part biomechanics plan with requirements such as low step-on height and narrow pedal spacing. Each has preset workouts too and is compatible with Virtual Active videos. These virtual reality videos adjust to the trainee’s speed, synchronizing the flow of sights and sounds from scenic destinations around the world.

Elite Horizon Ellipticals
The top Horizon Fitness ellipticals are the Elite E7 and Elite E9. These non-folding elliptical trainers have 20″ strides and flywheel weights of 23 and 30 pounds, respectively. Each is loaded with more than 40 workout programs and can be used with immersive Virtual Active workout programs too. (Only the E9, however, arrives with Virtual Active videos preloaded.) The Elite E7 shows programming on a 8.5″ LCD. The Elite E9 has a 7″ high definition touchscreen. Both consoles have speakers.
Horizon Elite ellipticals are sale priced at $1,399 and $1,599. Full prices are $2,099 and $2,399. The advertised prices include shipping and indoor delivery.
Evolve Horizon Ellipticals
Foldable yet sturdy, the Evolve 3 and Evolve 5 are the most advanced Horizon ellipticals designed for smaller spaces. Like the non-folding Elite ellipticals, they have 20″ strides and can be used with virtual reality video workouts. They have lighter flywheels though — 18 and 23 pounds — so they aren’t as suitable for advanced trainees or users who carry a lot of weight. Both the Evolve 3 and Evolve 5 ellipticals have backlit LCDs and more than 30 preset workout programs. Their consoles have speakers and water bottle holders.
Horizon Evolve ellipticals are sale priced at $1,199 and $1,399. Full prices are $1,599 and $1,799. The advertised prices include shipping and indoor delivery.
EX Series Horizon Ellipticals
The lone member of the most affordable Horizon ellipticals collection is the EX-59. This entry-level elliptical trainer has an 18″ stride and a 14.3-pound flywheel. Carrying a two-year parts warranty, it can be a great value for novices when brought home for just $649.
This non-folding elliptical has 10 classic workout programs. It’s the only Horizon elliptical machine that isn’t compatible with Virtual Active interactive workouts. Like the more advanced ellipticals though, it has speakers, a tablet computer holder and a conveniently placed water bottle holder.
