About Precor
Precor got its start as Precision Corporation in the early 1980’s and soon established itself as a leading innovator in the fitness industry. The company debuted by introducing the world to ergonomic rowing machines. A decade later Precor revolutionized the fitness industry with elliptical trainers and also introduced cushioned treadmills. Today the company is owned by Amer Sports, a Finnish corporation that also owns Wilson Sporting Goods, Louisville Slugger and other famous sports product lines. Amer Sports maintains offices in Utah, and Precor USA is based in Washington State. Precor sells its treadmills online and through specialty retailers.
Precor Treadmills
Precor has four treadmill collections. Two of these collections feature treadmills with warranties for home use. One is the Energy Series, which is inspired by Precor club treadmills. The other is the Precision Series, which features actual Precor club treadmills. Precor’s other two treadmill collections have light commercial and commercial warranties only. These are the Assurance Series and the Experience Series. Here are some favorite treadmills from Precor in several categories.
Lowest Priced Precor Treadmill
The Precor TRM 211 is the brand’s most affordable home treadmill. It’s a member of the Energy Series, a club-inspired collection of treadmills with long warranties for home use. The TRM 211 sells for just $2,499 at full price yet has the “club feel” of higher models.
Highlights include a welded steel frame, a maintenance-free 57″ x 20″ running surface, a 3.0 CHP motor and a power incline with maximum 15% grade. Like other treadmills in this series the 211 also has Energy Stride deck technology to reduce the impact of each step you take. Six training programs are included for cardiovascular health, performance and weight management. The treadmill supports one user profile.
Top Energy Series Precor Treadmill
The TRM 243 is the top treadmill in Precor’s Energy Series and a comfortable choice for runners and walkers alike. All treadmills in this series have excellent basics, and the TRM 243 builds upon their successful design with advanced electronics such as smartphone app integration and an expansive workout selection. The running area measures 57″ x 20″ and the track motor is 3.0 CHP. This treadmill also has an incline motor that tilts the track up to 15%. The 243 supports four user profiles. It has 23 preset workouts and lets each user to save 16 customized programs.
This Precor treadmill sells for $3,499 and is currently in-store only.
Top Precision Series Precor Treadmill
Precor’s best treadmill in the Precision Series is the TRM 445. Precision Series treadmills are built to the same standards as Precor health club treadmills, and the TRM 445 carries a confident 10-year parts warranty for home use. This luxurious home treadmill lets you walk or run downhill and uphill by activating its power ramp; the incline range is -2% to 15%. It has a 56″ long track with extra width and uses a Ground Effects Control System to minimize joint impact and maximize comfort.
Training support is provided with 23 preset programs and mobile app integration. One mobile app option is automated fitness tracking with weekly summaries of progress. Four users can save their profiles and customized workout programs. This treadmill has console controls for an iPod or smartphone too.
Full price is $5,999 but this Precor is now on sale on Amazon for $5,499, with free shipping and an $89 installation fee. The lower model in this collection is the TRM 425. It also lets you run downhill or uphill, but it has fewer preset workouts and supports just two user profiles.
Best Value Precor Club Treadmill
Precor’s best value on a treadmill for commercial fitness centers is the TRM 835. This is the middle of three Experience Series models featured in top clubs, cruise line gyms and other shared workout centers around the world. This attractive cardio trainer comes with a P31 LED console display and is available with a 15″ screen for viewing entertainment. Of course, it’s also a top performer and extremely durable.
The TRM 835 has a wonderfully energizing track; it absorbs impact and adjusts to each step to minimize fatigue and promote endurance. Other highlights include a 4.0 CHP motor, a 60″ track, a power incline and decline, and 27 workout programs accessed with a touch screen. This unit sells for $9,795 with installation not included.
Other Precor commercial treadmills in the Experience Series are the TRM 811 and TRM 885. For light commercial fitness centers the Assurance Series is another option.
