Treadmill Speed is measured in Miles Per Hour (mph). Average running speed is 5-9 mph.

0 - 12 mph

Treadmill Incline measures the angle of the deck, and how steep it is relative to the floor (0% is flat, and 15% is like a steep hill).

-3 - 15%

The Treadmill Motor is what turns the belt as you run. We recommend at least 2 HP (Horsepower) motors, 2.5+ HP for jogging, and 3.0+ HP for running.

3.5 CHP

Treadmill Deck dimensions are measured in inches: Width x Length. The wider and longer the deck, the safer it is (55-60 inches long recommended for running).

22" x 60"

The Treadmill Belt is the surface you run on. The thicker the belt, the less impact on your joints. At least 2-ply (1 inch) recommended.

ProShox Cushioning

Some treadmills are designed to conserve space by folding up. This is a convenient option, but some features might be reduced.

Treadmill Programs allow you to complete a workout with changing speeds and inclines, without changing anything manually.

Max. Weight

Treadmill Max User Weight is the amount of weight, in pounds (lbs), that it can safely support, which can represent durability.

350 lbs
Heart Rate

Heart Rate programs allow you to track how many times your heart is beating per minute (bpm), and some control the workout for you.

Dual-Grip EKG Monitor
Wireless Chest Strap

Dimensions are included to help you figure out if this treadmill will fit properly (Length x Width x Height and Height x Depth).

70" x 39.15" x 77.16"
2.5" Rollers

Treadmill Display refers to the screen you'll look at to monitor workouts. LED and LCD displays are similar to TV screens.

7" Oversized Backlit Display
Cooling Fans

Treadmill Cooling Fans are designed to help keep you cool during an intense workout.

Accessory Tray

Some treadmills include an accessory tray for holding items such as water bottles, wallets, keys, or MP3 players like iPods.

Treadmills that include a sound system allow you to listen to your MP3 player/iPod through built-in speakers (no headphones).

Quick Controls

Quick Controls allow you to select speed, incline and even workout programs with the touch of a button (usually on the handles).

The warranty is a very important part of your investment. The longer the warranty, the longer you can get free/discounted repairs by the manufacturer.

Our Rating

Rating: 96.6/100. The Pro 2000 treadmill for runners and walkers is the lowest priced treadmill of three in the Pro Series, a top line from ProForm Fitness. And so while the Pro 2000 is entry-level for its series, it has impressive qualities for a treadmill under $2000. If you don’t need an especially heavy-duty cardio trainer… and if you don’t mind bringing your own tablet computer to access the web or iFit Coach… then it could be your best buy treadmill of the three. Otherwise we recommend the 5000 or 9000 instead, as these have even stronger motors and integrated HD touchscreens for workouts and the web.

Selling points for the Pro 2000 run the gamut from fine basics to high-tech treats. Just a sampling includes: a spacious workout surface with power incline and decline; a 3.5 CHP motor designed to quietly power long walks and runs; 2.5”-diameter track rollers to help extend the belt life; 32 workout apps; readiness for iFit Coach personal training; iPod integration; and much more. The parts and labor warranty deal is strong too, which signals that this trainer is ready to be relied upon year after year.

Is this the best treadmill value in the series? That depends on the shopper. Advantages of upgrading to the Pro 5000 or Pro 9000 are 1) an integrated HD touchscreen enabled for iFit Coach and web browsing, 2) more horsepower, 3) even more workout programs and 4) a lower-maintenance belt.

  • Large running surface (22″ x 60″)
  • Top speed 12 mph
  • Power incline and decline (-3% to +15%)
  • iPod-compatible with port and 3″ speakers
  • 32 built-in workout apps
  • iFit-compatible for unlimited workouts
  • Lifetime guarantee on frame, deck and motor
  • Backlit data screen
  • Tablet computer shelf
  • SpaceSaver (Foldable)

  • Sometimes slow customer service
  • Tablet computer placement obscures data screen
  • A monitor (sold separately for $99) is required for iFit

The ProForm Pro 2000 has the essentials of a respectable treadmill for runners, plus it’s enhanced with pro training support and can be upgraded with an iFit Coach membership for unlimited and highly customized personal training. Below we describe the workout selection and other features. Considering all of the specs and the manufacturer’s longer-than-average warranty for the price, the new Pro 2000 looks like a good match all-around for the typical home gym.

Workout Programs

Whatever your fitness level, ProForm treadmills let you benefit from the guidance of a certified personal trainer. The Pro 2000 arrives with 32 workout programs that can automatically adjust the belt’s speed, incline and/or decline to help you reach specific goals.

Thirty-two training programs is plenty, but you can go even further with an iFit Coach membership (sold separately). Using your smartphone or tablet computer as the Pro 2000 control panel, you can use an unlimited variety of training programs. These include HD video workouts with famous personal trainers, daily downloads of workouts tailored to your fitness profile, and an unlimited variety of Google Maps workouts. With Google Maps workouts this ProForm treadmill can automatically adjust the incline/decline to simulate trails from your own town and around the world.

ProForm PRO 2000 Features

A top feature on the Pro 2000 is the automated incline and decline (-3 to 15 percent). This feature not only helps banish boredom, but also helps you build endurance, burn calories more efficiently and develop better muscle definition. Only a small minority of treadmills include declines, so this feature is prominent when we assign our treadmill rating.

The track material is rather thin compared with that of a club treadmill belt, but it’s tested for durability and exceeds industry standards in terms of surface area: Its surface is 60” long and 22” wide. ProShox™ cushioning beneath the track helps makes running on the treadmill a more joint-friendly experience than training outdoors on pavement.

A port is provided for connecting your iPod or other MP3 player. The Pro 2000 treadmill has 3” speakers integrated with its dash.

Exercise data are shown on a 7″ screen. This isn’t ProForm’s most advanced workout display, but it’s a good size for easy viewing. The ProForm Pro 2000 for 2017 also features a tablet computer shelf that can show your device at eye level without obscuring the console screen.

To help you exercise in your target heart rate zone, the Pro 2000 treadmill has contact pulse sensors and also includes a chest strap for wireless pulse monitoring.

A workout fan is built into the treadmill console. It has two speeds to help keep you comfortable.

An integrated workout bottle holder can keep water within easy reach.

The Pro 2000 is a foldable treadmill with SpaceSaver technology to make folding easy.

Warranty & Guarantee

The ProForm Pro 2000 treadmill warranty and guarantee are above average for the price class:

– Frame: Lifetime
– Motor: Lifetime
– Parts & Electronics: 5 Years
– Labor: 2 years

ProForm provides a 30-day money back guarantee on its factory-direct treadmills.

For all but the heaviest cardio training the ProForm Pro 2000 treadmill is a top value. It’s one of the few treadmills that helps you prepare for outdoor activity with an incline and decline, and that’s just the beginning of its impressive benefits. Sometimes we recommend jumping beyond an entry-model treadmill to get good value, but for singles and families without especially heavy duty training needs the ProForm Pro 2000 is a great find.

If you need lots of horsepower or want an integrated touchscreen with web (instead of adding your own tablet), then check out the Pro 5000 or 9000 as alternatives.
