Diamondback Exercise Bikes Buying Guide

Diamondback Fitness was founded as Diamond Back in 1977, and was a pioneer in BMX bikes. Today it makes a wide range of road bikes, indoor bikes and elliptical trainers. This FitRated.com buying guide breaks down the Diamondback exercise bikes into different categories so you can easily compare them.

Diamondback Upright Magnetic Bikes

Diamondback Fitness currently makes one upright exercise bike which uses quiet magnetic resistance: the 1260ub. Although its retail price is $1,749.99, it often sells for hundreds of dollars less on Diamondback’s site.

Highlights include 15 built-in workout programs including heart-rate controlled training, 32 levels of resistance and a one-click resistance dial which lets you change the resistance with ease. The 1260ub also features a Polar compatible wireless heart-rate receiver for you to use with your own wireless chest strap.

Extras include a USB charger, onboard speakers, a water bottle holder and a tablet holder.

The 1260ub is sold with the brand’s standard home-use warranty which includes lifetime limited (5-years) coverage on the frame and brake, 3 years on parts and electronics, 1 year on labor, and 90 days on wear items.

Diamondback Recumbent Bikes

Diamondback currently makes two recumbent exercise bikes: the 910sr and the 1260sr. Their retail prices are $1,199.99 and $1,899.99 respectively, but you can usually find them on Diamondback’s site for hundreds of dollars less.

Each provides good lumbar support and positions the rider for pedaling with minimal stress on the hips, knees and ankles.

So which recumbent bike is best for you? Both bikes offer 32 levels of resistance, onboard speakers, a Polar compatible wireless heart-rate receiver and a tablet holder. They’re also on par when it comes to the warranty, offering lifetime limited (5-years) coverage on the frame and brake, 3 years on parts and electronics, 1 year on labor, and 90 days on wear items.

Yet there are a few differences. The 910sr might be a better choice for you if you want an expanded workout menu; it offers an impressive 32 workout programs as opposed to the 1260sr’s 15.

If you want a more tech-savvy workout, the 1260sr is the bike for you. With this model you can use Bluetooth to connect to the speakers and to your favorite fitness activity monitoring device to track your stats. The 1260sr works with any app or wearable that is BLE FTMS compatible. It features a USB charging point to keep your devices charged. It’s also a smart trainer that automatically adjusts the resistance level to mirror the changing intensity of your workout program.

Diamondback Indoor Cycle Trainers

Diamondback’s two indoor cycle trainers are the 510ic and 910ic. Compared with other styles of indoor bikes (upright and recumbent), indoor cycle trainers operate especially like road bikes. Compared with indoor cycle trainers from other brands, Diamondback’s bikes are unusual for including preset workout programs.

How do the bikes compare with each other? Both models have 12 onboard workout programs. As for the drives, the Diamondback 510ic has a 32-pound flywheel whereas the 910ic has a 40-pound flywheel. The 910ic also has 32 levels of resistance, double the amount of the 510ic (which has 16). The 910ic also features a self-generating electronic resistance system which gives you the freedom to work out anywhere, even on your outside deck!

As for heart-rate monitoring, where the 510ic only offers contact sensors, the 910ic also has a Polar compatible wireless heart-rate receiver.
