Lifecore Exercise Bikes Buying Guide

Lifecore Fitness was founded in the 1990’s and is headquartered in Carlsbad, California. The company makes high quality exercise bikes, treadmills and other cardio equipment for commercial fitness centers and home gyms. Building durable machinery that’s easy to use is a main goal. A great example of this is their upright Assault Airbike, which can operate for hundreds of thousands of hours trouble-free. Lifecore also makes smooth-running recumbent bikes and a magnetic upright exercise bike. Full prices for these products range from $999 for the Assault AirBike to $1,899 for the top recumbent bike. Here are summaries of some favorites.

Best Upright Fan Bike

Lifecore makes a fantastic fan bike, the Assault AirBike, and sells it for just $999. Train your whole body or rest your legs and just use the moving arm bars. This bike is suitable for almost anyone. It’s selected for pro sports teams and the US military, plus it’s a great choice for family members whether young, elderly or in between. The Assault AirBike can adapt in both size and power to fit a wide range of children and adults.

This steel-framed bike produces resistance with a 27″ fan wheel. This resistance system can adapt to any user strength; it has infinite challenge levels to fit everything from gentle rehabilitative training to high-intensity cardio training.

The Assault AirBike’s preset interval programs are 20/10 Interval, 10/20 Interval and Custom Interval. Goal programs are named Time, Distance, Calories and Heart Rate. This exercise bike supports wireless heart rate monitoring and also has contact pulse sensors.

Lifecore Magnetic Upright Exercise Bike

The Assault AirBike above is a favorite for durability and adjustability. When a virtually silent ride is needed though, the Lifecore 1060UB is a reliable option. The 1060UB uses a body-friendly design to minimize joint impact; the seat stem is angled to reduce the body weight put on your knees. To help you train efficiently the bike has 47 preset programs including a variety of workouts controlled by heart rate. A three-speed fan is on board and two beverage holders make hydration convenient. This bike also has wireless heart rate monitoring, contact pulse monitoring, iPod compatibility and a tablet computer holder.

The 1060RB sells for $1,399 and is available with commercial and residential warranties. The residential warranty provides for five years of parts protection, which leads the industry at this price point.

Best Lifecore Recumbent Bike

Lifecore makes three recumbent exercise bikes: the 860RB, 960RB and 1060 RB. Lifecore recumbent bikes have very adjustable seating and smooth ergonomics that are gentle on knees. They use magnetic resistance that’s known for quiet operation. Each Lifecore recumbent bike can support three user profiles and has built-in workouts.

The best recumbent bike from Lifecore is the 1060RB. This bike is especially motivating with its 47 preset workouts including several with heart rate control. The resistance range is wide and divided into 32 levels. (The entry level 860RB, in comparison, has 16 levels that cover the same range.) This is the only recumbent Lifecore bike with resistance controls built into the handlebars. For comfortable rides the 1060RB has extra-wide orthopedic pedals, a three-speed fan and two beverage holders within easy reach. This bike also is iPod compatible and has a no-slip holder for a smartphone or tablet computer.

The 1060RB has an MSRP of $1,899 and carries a seven-year parts warranty for residential use. It’s also available with a commercial warranty.
