Introduction

The Precor TRM 223 Treadmill is designed to last for many years and keep you engaged with healthy cardio training. It provides the high quality associated with Precor’s health club treadmills, but it’s priced lower and carries a residential-only warranty. One big attraction is its virtually no-maintenance design. Precor treadmill tracks are infused with silicone, so no lubrication is required, and the motors are commercial quality too. Here the electronics are under warranty for three years (that’s above average) and provide nine workout programs. The TRM 223 also has wireless and touch heart rate monitoring, onboard volume controls for your smartphone or iPod, and a SmartGrip™ tablet computer holder. Full price is $2,999 and the web sale price is $2,699.

Precor’s sale price includes a five-year parts warranty and other buyer protections.

Workout Programs

The Precor TRM 223 has nine workout programs to help you train efficiently: Manual (Quick Start), Cross Country, 1-1 Interval, 1-2 Interval, Random, Weight Loss, Hill Climb, Walk, and Aerobic.

As for exercise feedback there are 13 data fields. Metric and US Standard formats can be used. During each workout the console shows Calories, Calories per Minute, Distance, Time Elapsed, Time Remaining, Incline, Pace, Speed, Average Speed, Heart Rate, Target Heart Rate and SmartRate® Zone. (SmartRate® Zone helps you see in a quick glance whether you’re exercising in the category of Fat Burn, Cardio or Peak.) After each workout a summary with four session statistics is displayed.

Two user profiles are supported. Advantages of using a profile are getting more accurate data about your calorie burn and heart rate zone.

Precor TRM 223 Features

The workout programs and exercise data described above are shown on a blue and white LCD. The screen has acrylic overlay for durability and the console uses soft dome-style buttons.

For entertainment or multitasking during workouts you can attach your tablet computer to the console. The console also has volume controls for your connected smartphone or iPod.

The Precor TRM 223 treadmill has a 57″ x 20″ track. Its deck has a low step-on height and provides a comfortable combination of flex and support for your strides.

Treadmills in the Precor Energy Series have power inclines with 0% to 15% range. Use the incline to simulate outdoor routes, to shift weight off your knees, to speed up calorie burn and isolate different muscles. You can control the incline yourself or let preset programs do the work.

Long handrails are included for support. They have touch sensors for convenient heart rate monitoring. The TRM 223 is also compatible with Polar wireless chest straps.
