NordicTrack C 1070 Pro Treadmill Review

Quick Summary

The NordicTrack C1070 Pro Treadmill is a good option for those who need a sturdy, straightforward treadmill and like the idea of choosing a trusted brand that’s been around for years. Though the bells and whistles are limited, the C1070 Pro treadmill has some standout features. Highlights include good incline capability, a nicely cushioned deck and a 7” Smart HD Touchscreen, as well as a fan and a speaker system to make your workouts both more comfortable and enjoyable.

Where the C1070 Pro is lacking, however, is size and weight capacity. If you’re someone who likes a roomy ride or you’re a larger person and need that extra deck space, you may be disappointed with this model.

Our Rating

Rating: 92.2/100. The NordicTrack C1070 Pro Treadmill will provide everything you need if you are at the beginner or intermediate level. For advanced runners and those looking for a treadmill that’s ideal for high-intensity and sprint training, we recommend a higher-end treadmill.

One of the highlights of this treadmill is that it includes a 3.0 CHP DurX™ Commercial Plus motor, which is good for a machine at this price point. This motor is well-rated in terms of being able to sustain itself for shared use or multiple workouts a day. This means if you have multiple family members who use the treadmill, you shouldn’t have to worry about it failing anyone during their walk or run.

This treadmill goes up to a 10% incline, which should suffice for a novice or intermediate user, but will likely leave a more advanced trainee wanting. A 10% incline will allow you to make your workouts more challenging. If you want something more extreme for intense leg work, you’ll need a higher-end treadmill, which typically offers up to a 12% incline, with some models offering as much as a 40% incline capability.

We really like that the deck on the C1070 comes with FlexSelectTM cushioning, which allows you to adjust its firmness. If you are aiming to reduce your risk of joint pain, you can select the relatively soft surface, which NordicTrack states will provide 30% less impact on your joints. Or, you can remove some of the cushioning so it feels more like you’re running on the road. This is a great feature for those who are training for a road race, as you can better prepare for outdoor surface conditions.

The C1070 also keeps comfort in mind—to a degree.

The good news? It has a built-in fan that automatically adjusts its speed to keep you cool as you go faster or slower. It also has a tablet holder tray for your book, tablet or iPhone and an auxiliary music port and speakers to play your music if you plug in your phone or music player.

The bad news? The belt on the C1070 is quite narrow. At just 18” wide, it’s thinner than what many would consider to be industry standard (20” to 22” in width). While a difference of 4” may not seem like much, when you pick up the intensity on a walk or run, the lack of space is noticeable and you may feel cramped. If you are a larger individual, you may find that the treadmill is downright uncomfortable.

Finally, the treadmill does come with iFit capabilities. However, you’ll be on your own to cover the cost of membership. Without iFit, the treadmill still has 32 built-in programs. This is a good feature to have if you’re starting a training program and want a bit of guidance (and don’t want to pay for a personal trainer).

Pros:

  • 3.0 CHP DurX™ Commercial Plus motor good for shared use or multiple daily workouts
  • Built-in fan system
  • Auxiliary music port
  • Speaker system
  • iFit-enabled so you can get workout coaching if desired
  • 32 on-board workout programs
  • Allows you to challenge yourself with some amount of incline training (incline capability of 10% and a max speed of 12 mph)
  • FlexSelect™ cushioning allows for a firm deck (good for training for road running) or softer deck (good for joint pain prevention)
  • EKG grip pulse heart rate monitor
  • Space-Saver design (foldable for storage)

Cons:

  • Narrow belt width (18”)
  • Treadmill incline capabilities less than others on the market
  • 1-year labor warranty is relatively short
  • iFit membership not included

Introduction

The NordicTrack C1070 Treadmill is great for a novice or intermediate walker or runner who hopes to advance their home fitness goals, doesn’t want to spend a fortune and wants a moderate number of features on the machine.

The 3.0 CHP motor allows multiple people in a home to use the treadmill without fear of wearing it out and a 10% incline capability can add a useful level of difficulty to a walk or run. The adjustable FlexSelect™ cushioning deck, auxiliary music port and set of speakers, 32 on-board workouts and fan make for a more comfortable and entertaining workout. It also folds up when not in use to save on space.

One strike against this model is that the belt is only 18” wide, compared to 20” to 22” on higher-priced models. This 4 inches can make a big difference in how comfortable you are during a cardio workout.

Workout Programs

This treadmill provides 32 on-board programs, which are great for shaking up your workouts and keeping you interested and challenged. It also comes iFit-enabled, however the iFit membership is sold separately.

NordicTrack C 1070 Pro Features

This treadmill features a sturdy build and design as well as a powerful 3.0 CHP motor that will withstand shared use and multiple workouts a day. Maximum speed is 12MPH and maximum incline is 10%. The treadmill has a 300 lb. weight capacity and 18” belt width, which is narrower than industry standard.

The FlexSelect™ cushioning gives you the option to run or walk on a firm deck, which may be good if you’re training for a road race, or a softer deck, which is said to put 30% less impact on your joints.

The EKG grip pulse heart rate monitor helps you keep track of your heart rate as you go.

An auxiliary music port and dual 2” speakers allow you to listen to your music or a podcast as you work out and a tablet holder tray gives you a place to put your phone, tablet or even a book, so you’ll be entertained while to train.

A 7” HD display shows the 32 on-board exercise programs and, if you pay for the membership, the iFit features.

The fan automatically adjusts its speed to match the intensity of your training.

The C1070 Pro also features space-saver design, so it can fold up to be stored out of the way.

Warranty & Guarantee

The NordicTrack C1070 Pro Treadmill warranty includes:

-Lifetime Warranty: Frame & Motor

-3-Year Warranty: Parts

Conclusion

If you are a beginner or an intermediate runner or walker and you want a treadmill that doesn’t cost a small fortune but still gets the job done and includes several useful features, this is a great choice. If you require a wider running space or are a larger individual, however, you may want a different model.
