NordicTrack Treadmill Desk Review

Quick Summary

The NordicTrack Desk Treadmill has the hint of office even in its wood laminate finish; not the usual steel look of a traditional treadmill. It’s created for a light to moderate workout with a speed of 6 MPH. It boasts a very spacious desktop that is adjustable for standing while walking on the treadmill and as well as sitting once you’ve finished your workout break. There is an integrated LCD display screen to view your speed and a grip heart rate monitor on the handlebars; both basic but all that’s needed for the level of activity this treadmill is created for. The iFit ready capability lets those who want more have the option through the iFit subscription.

Our Rating

Rating: 85.4/100. The mere purpose of a desk treadmill, naturally supposes that it is for a lighter workout, not for running but for walking and working. It’s for getting your body moving, so that you are not sedentary for long periods of time; in fact it’s not for any type of serious exercise routine. And so, it cannot be rated based on a treadmill made for serious runners, as such we must review it from a different point of view – does it get the user moving, is it comfortable?

There are no programs that come with the treadmill, normally that would not be a good sign, but since you would be using it while you are working, it makes perfect sense. You are able to see your speed and monitor your heart rate on the integrated LCD display. If you would like to change it up and do a little more when you are finished working out, you are able to increase your speed. If you want to add variety it comes with iFit membership option. The iFit membership allows you to access various programs; using Google maps you can have a selection of various terrains virtually. However, speed is limited to up to 6 MPH, a regular treadmill usually goes up to 10MPH.  It is a good-looking machine with the wood laminate – akin to an office look over a gym style. The motor runs quietly, which is important for an office space, and virtual meetings. The track is short but good enough for walking. The grip heart rate monitor helps to keep you in your target heart zone; but a wireless option would be better suited. The charging station is a convenient addition. What makes this exceptional is the combination of the space saver design with the sitting desk choice. The NordicTrack Desk Treadmill can fold up if you are limited to space and while folded up the desk can be used while sitting.

Pros:

  • Stylish with a woodgrain and steel finish
  • Quiet motor 2.6 CHP
  • Track: 20” x 55” is a good size for walking and working
  • Large work surface/desk – 40”x18”
  • Adjustable Desk – Use while walking or sitting
  • EKG Grip pulse rate monitor
  • Integrated LCD desktop display built into the desk, to monitor the basics and control speed.
  • iFit-ready – use your laptop or other device to access different programs and workout statistics.
  • USB charging station
  • Space saver design- while it folds up to incorporate a sitting desk it is also a way to accommodate for limited space.

Cons:

  • Short warranty on parts and labor (1 year)
