Rating: 72.7/100. The ProForm 520 ZN is an entry level treadmill built for walking rather than running. Overall it can be a useful exercise solution on rainy days or when you can’t get to the gym. If regularly used several times per week though, it could have a pretty short life expectancy. Specs include a 55″ track with power incline, a 2.5 CHP motor, built-in training programs and iFit compatibility. This treadmill has a one-year parts and labor warranty.

An alternative we recommend at the $599 price point is the iFit-enabled ProForm 400i. With an iFit-enabled treadmill, there’s no need to purchase an iFit monitor. The 400i also has a more useful setup for data feedback.
The ProForm 520 ZN is designed for affordable and enjoyable exercise. Designed for walkers, it has a 55″ track and lets you boost your calorie burn with incline training. Other features include built-in workouts, iPod compatibility, a tablet computer holder and wiring for an iFit monitor.
The 520 ZN sells for $599 including delivery and a one-year warranty for parts and labor.
Lots of workout guidance is included with this low-priced treadmill: The 520 ZN has 18 workout programs designed by a certified personal trainer. These are grouped into four categories – calories, intensity, incline and speed – and each program can control the treadmill’s speed and incline.
For infinite options you can add an iFit monitor. With an iFit membership you can download a new and customized workout every day, watch high definition video workouts, and virtually experience actual routes worldwide with Google Maps™.
The Google Maps™ option lets you choose from popular routes or download any path you please. The ProForm 520 ZN Treadmill will adjust its 0% – 10% incline to copy the landscape!
The iFit monitor will display an interactive Google Street View.
ProForm 520 ZN Features
Exercise data are shown on a basic LED with backlighting. The feedback include speed, time, distance, pulse and an estimate of calories burned.
For enhanced workouts the 520 ZN has an automated 10% incline. By using the maximum setting you can roughly double your usual calorie burn rate while maintaining your usual walking speed.
The tread track is the standard size used on walkers’ treadmills (55″ x 20″). It’s supported by the same ProShox™ cushioning that’s featured on more expensive ProForm treadmills.
For audio entertainment an iPod-compatible port and 2″ speakers are built into the console. The ProForm 520 ZN also has a holder for your tablet computer.
For easy storage this SpaceSaver treadmill is built with EasyLift™ Assist. Just push on the deck and shock-assist technology will fold it upward to reveal floor space.

The newest 520 ZN is one of ProForm’s most inexpensive treadmills. It’s a big improvement over its predecessor, but among $599 treadmills we prefer the ProForm 400i for its Watts LED console and iFit-enabled status.
If you can afford to spend more than $599, you’ll enjoy a big boost in treadmill capability and durability. See some our favorite treadmills under $1000.
