Our Rating

Rating: 84.4/100. Budget friendly elliptical offers adjustable stride length and good resistance variety. NordicTrack 990 PRO features plenty of toys, but is only backed by one year coverage on parts and labor. Still, it is hard to find a trainer that provides so much for its price.

Pros:

  • Snap assembly makes the construction process a breeze
  • Heavy duty 16 lb. flywheel for smooth operation
  • SMR Silent Magnetic resistance with 22 levels of diversity
  • Music friendly (iPod dock, speakers)
  • Incline power ramp (10-30 degrees) for added challenge
  • Plenty of toys on trainer including cooling fan and LCD display

Cons:

  • Limited warranty coverage
  • iFit Wireless module sold separately (required for iFit Live)
  • Consumers have complained about customer service in past

Introduction

The NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 PRO is a good value considering that you get so much for under $1,000.

The elliptical will satisfy most consumers with the Silent Magnetic resistance, 20 – 23 inch stride length, 22 levels of resistance and 16 lb. flywheel all designed to provide a smooth and effective workout experience.

However, that is not to say the AudioStrider 990 PRO has some drawbacks, namely complaints in the past about the “too good to be true” 325 lbs. max user weight (some critics put it more at 250 lbs.) and basic warranty package.

Regardless, there is a lot more to like about the NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 PRO than dislike.

Workout Programs

The NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 PRO offers 15 target toning workouts and 10 performance workouts. The target toning exercises will focus on specific muscle groups, while the performance workouts present the user with a versatile workout performance to keep you in excellent shape.

As previously mentioned, the NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 PRO is compatible with iFit Live. Endorsed by celebrity trainer Jillian Michaels, the program connects users (via Wi-Fi) instantly to customizable fitness plans, new workouts, online profile, access to Google Maps and more.

iFit Live is definitely an excellent weapon to add to your exercise arsenal as the program also offers a nutrition and activity tracker, motivating text messages and emails and even workout videos.

If that is not enough, users can get an additional challenge by using the built-in heart rate program with Dual-Grip Cardiogrip heart rate monitoring.

NOTE: While iFit Live is probably the most tantalizing feature of the NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 PRO you will need to purchase the module ($50) as well as commit to a yearly membership ($120).

NordicTrack 990 PRO Features

The NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 PRO features SpaceSaver design which will save you nearly three feet of floor space when not in use.

The slip-resistant, oversized pedals on the AudioStrider 990 PRO present a number of different foot positions as well as provide additional stability while exercising.

Stay cool with a built-in workout fan by CoolAire, and monitor exercise data on the Graffix LCD display available directly on the trainer’s module.

The NordicTrack 990 PRO is compatible with iPod players and the music sounds surprisingly good on the Intermix Acoustics 2.0 speakers.

The elliptical features 20 – 23″ stride and 10 to 30 degree power incline ramp for additional workout challenges.

Customers rave about the smooth operation of the SMR Silent Magnetic Resistance and 16 lb. flywheel, which supports 22 digital resistance levels.

The NordicTrack 990 PRO is also the company’s easiest model to assemble.

Warranty & Guarantee

NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 PRO warranty and guarantee includes:

– Frame: Lifetime
– Parts: 2 Years
– Labor: 1 Year

NordicTrack has a 30-day money back guarantee on all exercise equipment.

Conclusion

The NordicTrack AudioStrider 990 PRO is a well rated elliptical in the $500 to $1,000 price range, but there are a couple of red flags (limited warranty coverage, poor customer service).
