Introduction
The T70 leads a new series of high-end home treadmills from Matrix Fitness, a brand that first specialized in treadmills for health clubs. Highlights include a spacious running area, a maintenance-free track, a commercial motor and a choice of three appealing consoles.
Workout Programs
Matrix Fitness consoles for home cardio trainers are named XR, XER and XIR. The XR console, which is the simplest, has five standard workout programs that control the T70’s speed and incline. The XER has ten such programs and the XIR has 11. On the XR these programs are shown on a monochromatic LED. The XER has a full-color 6” touch screen and the XIR has a 10” touch screen.
Also on the XER and XIR consoles is the Sprint8 app for high intensity interval training. This science-based workout app has been proven to cut body fat, promote lean muscle mass and improve cholesterol in just eight weeks. These benefits can be achieved with just 20-minute treadmill workouts every other day.
All three consoles can work with Virtual Active videos. These unique videos simulate outdoor training by adjusting to the viewer’s pace. The Matrix XER and XIR consoles are Virtual Active integrated; three scenic video tours are built-in and viewable on the treadmill touch screen. With all three consoles, Virtual Active videos can be used with a Passport Media Player. A Passport Player sends Virtual Active to a home TV for immersive workouts with a big screen.
Matrix T70 Features
The T70 is the only Matrix home treadmill with a maintenance-free track. Other treadmill tracks need to be waxed every so often, but the T70’s belt can serve for thousands of miles without needing any maintenance besides dusting.
For comfort the Matrix T70 has an extra-wide track; the track is 22 inches wide rather than the standard 20.
The track’s power incline has settings from zero to 15 percent. These can be controlled with buttons on the machine frame and console, as well as by training programs.
This unit supports heart rate monitoring with touch sensors and wireless telemetry. A chest strap is included with each XER and XIR console and is sold separately from the XR.
Each T70 treadmill console can work with ViaFit, a mobile app for fitness management. ViaFit can automatically log treadmill workout stats such as pulse, calories burned and distance traveled. It can connect with cardio trainers, health devices such as FitBit, and other mobile apps.
More than a dozen mobile apps are built into the XER and XIR consoles. Examples are Facebook, Twitter, Hulu, YouTube and MyFitnessPal.
Additionally the XIR console has a web browser.
High quality speakers and iPod/iPhone-compatible ports are built into the XER and XIR consoles.
