Full Review

Quick Summary
Rating: 50.9/100. Extremely affordable, AirStride Plus Cushioning, 1lb weights included, Heart Rate, decent warranty, regular motor, average speed and incline, small deck

Pros:
- Very affordable
- Average size motor (2.5 HP Peak, 1.5 Continuous)
- AirStride Plus Cushioning
- Decent display
- 1lb hand weights included
- Heart Rate monitor
- Reasonable warranty for price

Cons:
- Lack of personal workouts
- Small deck
- Average speed and incline
- Few additional accessories

Gold’s Gym GG480 is a Walmart exclusive and appropriately priced. It’s always nice to have a budget option on the market and the GG480 represents that to its core. The motor is surprisingly okay for the price (2.5 HP Peak, 1.5 Continuous), although we are hesitant to think that its tiny running surface (18″x50″) will suffice for most users. That, and the advertised 300 lbs. limit might be just a little generous.

Workout Programs

The treadmill offers four performance and four weight-loss workouts. It’s been than nothing, but when we’re use to seeing an average of 10-15 workouts minimum, the GG480 is not exactly ideal. One thing, however, the treadmill utilizes nicely are two 1lb. hand weights, an accessory that is incorporated into the workouts with an indicator light for use.

Treadmill Features

Do not expect to get much of anything here, as the aforementioned hand-weights are likely the best additional feature. However, the Heart Rate monitor, LCD display (w/ RaceTrack), AirStride Plus Cushioning, pulse grips and SpaceSaver design are worth nothing. If nothing else, the GG480 is really compact.

Warranty & Guarantee

It’s unreasonable to expect the world for something that is already priced so low, however Gold’s Gym does offer a surprisingly reasonable five year motor warranty as well as 90 days parts & labor. But where is the love for the frame and the deck?

- Motor: 5 Years
- Parts: 90 Days
- Labor: 90 Days

More Gold’s Gym GG480 Reviews

Very few cons to this product: the display is somewhat difficult to read (no back light) and the assembly was a little challenging at times (pre-drilled holes didn’t align). No major complaints though. I would give it 5 stars if the display was easier to read! -”LovesFrida” (Columbus, OH)

Conclusion

Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The Gold’s Gym GG480 is an opportunity to workout from home and little else. It’s obviously better than no treadmill but we are very weary about a smaller than traditional motor, deck, speed and incline range as well as lack of workouts.

If your budget is tight, the GG480 is highly recommended. However, if you have a little extra money to spend, toss in a couple hundred more and its so much better than what this treadmill has to offer.
