Horizon T202 Review

Quick Summary

The Horizon T202 Treadmill is a good value for its range of features/quality and its cost of $799. It has 2.75 CHP (continuous duty horsepower) motor and although you can run on it, it’s better suited for walking and jogging. The 12% incline allows for a more intense workout—and solid muscle toning—whether you’re walking or jogging. The variable cushioning absorbs impact to reduce stress on joints. Bluetooth compatibility allows you to connect your device to the console and speakers, and a tablet rack gives you a place to set it down. You can access a few popular fitness apps and save your progress on your device. Six built-in programs include weight loss and cardio fitness (calories, time) with manual and interval training options as well. The treadmill can accommodate users up to 325 lbs and has a 60″ deck to allow for longer strides, making it great for taller users. The integrated fan keeps you cool on those very challenging workouts. A bonus feature of this treadmill is the Featherlight™ folding feature that allows you to fold up the treadmill with relative ease so it takes up a small amount of living space when not in use.

Labor: 1 year

Our Rating

Rating: 83.2/100. The Horizon T202 Treadmill is a good choice in its class. The 12% incline gives you the option to make any workout more challenging—not to mention increase your strength, cardio fitness and muscle tone. The maximum user weight of 325 lbs makes this a good choice for heavier users. The motor (2.75 CHP) is better suited to walkers and joggers than runners. If you do use this treadmill for running, the 60″ deck is a helpful feature as it accommodates a longer stride, and the speed range goes up to 12 mph (helpful for interval training). The cushioning is important for those who use the treadmill regularly—it absorbs shock on impact to protect joints over a long period of time. The treadmill is Bluetooth-enabled so you can connect your devices to the machine and access compatible fitness apps or just listen to music/watch something while you work out. A USB charging port keeps devices fully charged. The built-in cooling fan is a nice, if typical, addition, especially when you’re working up a sweat. The warranty is decent for this class of machine—lifetime on motor and frame, one year on parts, cushioning and labor.

Pros:

  • Price: Affordable at the MSRP of $799, but like most treadmills can be found for less online
  • Motor: It’s a moderately powerful motor at 2.75 CHP
  • Console: Easy to read LCD screen
  • Exercise Programs: It comes with six built-in programs: Calorie, distance, fat burn, hill climb, intervals, manual

  • Heart Rate Monitoring: Monitor your heart rate with the easy dual grip
  • Cushioning: The variable cushioning helps to protect joints by absorbing the shock as you land and push off
  • Audio: Plug in your device and listen to music, podcasts, workout prompts, etc. through integrated speakers
  • Fans: Keeps you cool as you push yourself
  • Warranty: Lifetime on frame and motor, 1 year on parts, cushioning and labor
  • Storage: It’s foldable, easy to store in a corner when not in use

Cons:

  • Small screen: If you’re looking for a large interactive touchscreen this isn’t it.

Introduction

The Horizon T202 Treadmill is a good, affordable machine for a home gym. It has all the features that make it a best-in-class mid-tier model—more to offer than the lowest price/grade options but nowhere near a premium treadmill.  It comes with five basic, built-in programs and gives you free access to its own fitness app. Thanks to Bluetooth connectivity, you can use your own device to listen to music or use this fitness app as well as other compatible fitness apps that can monitor your progress. The 2.75 CHP motor is best for a good walk or jog, not serious running. It folds up to fit in small spaces yet will be a stable machine for users up to 325 lbs. It’s best for beginners and intermediate fitness levels.
