Weslo Momentum 620 Review

Quick Summary

The Weslo Momentum 620 is commonly found at massive retailers like Wal-Mart and Sears and lacks the quality that other ellipticals almost always guarantee.

The Weslo Momentum 620 is reasonably priced around $200 and features 10 levels of resistance (pretty good for price range), but is equipped with some cheaply made parts that are sadly only covered for 90 days.

The Momentum 620 will start you working out and eliminate gym fees but that’s about it.

Resistance is what determines calories burned per stride. The more levels, the more precisely you can control the difficulty.

10 Levels
Resistance Type

The type of resistance affects the performance of your elliptical. Magnetic and Eddy-Current are the most common types.

Silent Magnetic Resistance
Stride Length

Stride Length is important for comfort and smooth strides. A stride length of 18-21 inches is ideal for most heights (5'3 - 6'7).

13 inches

Elliptical pedals can be cushioned and adjustable for maximum comfort and minimum impact on joints for injury prevention.

Some elliptical trainers can be set at an incline to increase difficulty and burn more calories.

The flywheel controls the smoothness and resistance of your workout. In general, the higher the better.

Not Listed

Elliptical Programs allow you to complete a workout with changing speeds and inclines, without changing anything manually.

2 Programs
User Profiles

For each profile the elliptical allows, you can create a custom user account with saved programs and goal settings.

Heart Rate

Heart Rate programs allow you to track how many times your heart is beating per minute (bpm), and some control the workout for you.

Pulse Grips

Elliptical Display refers to the screen you'll look at to monitor workouts. LED and LCD displays are similar to TV screens.

Max. Weight

Max User Weight is the amount of weight, in pounds (lbs), that it can safely support, which can represent durability.

250 lbs

Dimensions are included to help you figure out if this elliptical will fit properly (Length x Width x Height and Height x Depth).

44" x 21" x 54.5"
Weight: 96 lbs
Upper Body

Most ellipticals have handles to hold while you're working out that provide an upper body workout.

Accessory Tray

Some ellipticals include an accessory tray for holding items such as water bottles, wallets, keys, or MP3 players like iPods.

Ellipticals that include a sound system allow you to listen to your MP3 player/iPod through built-in speakers (without headphones).

Cooling Fans

Cooling Fans are designed to help keep you cool during an intense workout on your elliptical.

Some ellipticals are designed to conserve space by folding up. This is a convenient option, but some features might be reduced.

Quick Controls

Quick Controls allow you to select speed, incline and even workout programs with the touch of a button (usually on the handles).

The warranty is an important part of your investment. The longer the warranty, the longer you can get free/discounted repairs.

Our Rating

Rating: 41.8/100. Silent Magnetic Resistance, 10 Resistance Levels, 250 lbs. max user weight, 13 inch stride length, LCD display, 2 workout programs, EasyPulse Heart Rate, Oversized pedals, Step Through Design, Target Pacer, accessory tray

  • Budget friendly elliptical
  • Variable resistance (10 individual levels)
  • LCD display track exercise vitals
  • Monitor heart rate with integrated pulse grips
  • Easy access with Step Through frame
  • Target Pacer lets you know when to speed up or slow down

  • Extremely poor warranty coverage
  • 13 inch stride length not suitable for larger users
  • Only two workout programs included

Based on the price, the Weslo Momentum 620 comes across as a steal.

The elliptical has a few decent features such as the Silent Magnetic Resistance and 10 separate resistance levels.

Unfortunately, the stride length is only 13 inches and unsatisfactory for a lot of larger body types and/or longer limbs.

Workout information such as speed, distance, time and odometer are displayed nicely with the LCD display, but you’ll get very little in terms of electronics.

Workout Programs

The Weslo Momentum 620 supports two workout programs that you personalize yourself as well as an EasyPulse Heart Rate monitor.

Simply place your thumb on the EKG sensor for your reading.

The Target Pacer also keeps you informed on when you need to pump it up and work harder or slow down the pace.

Weslo Momentum 620 Elliptical Features

The Weslo Momentum 620 requires assembly upon shipment and is extremely light at 96 lbs. Consequently, the trainer is very compact and easy to transport, though it’s difficult to trust the stability of an elliptical that weighs so little.

Easily the most attractive feature of the Momentum 620 is the adjustable levels of resistance that offers 10 different options.

Everything is displayed nicely on the clear LCD screen that tracks speed, time, distance, calories burned, fat calories burned and pulse. Adjust resistance levels with the digital control feature button on the console.

Step in and out of your elliptical more easily than ever before with the Step-Through Design. The Target Pacer is a great addition. It lets you know when you need to work a little harder or slow down.

Warranty & Guarantee

The Weslo Momentum 620 elliptical warranty and guarantee includes:

– Frame: 90 Days
– Parts: 90 Days
– Electronics: 90 Days

These days, $250 is not much for an elliptical so the Weslo Momentum 620 will accomplish its primary goal — tricking a few people into buying a poorly made elliptical.

You get what you pay for and with the measly 90 day warranty on frame, parts and electronics the Momentum 620’s longevity is definitely questionable.

In regard to distance, will the machine indicate when one has traveled his desired distance, 1 mile.
