With its strong motor, long track and three-zone cushioning, the Elite T7-02 competes as a home treadmill for runners and walkers alike. Its hardware is durable for the price class, and the electronics offer excellent workout variety plus wireless heart rate monitoring and wireless data sharing. Below are details about the new Elite T7-02’s built-in workout programs, optional Virtual Active videos, belt motor and more.
The Elite T7-02 treadmill console arrives with 40 preset workout programs, including a customizable heart rate control workout, and has space for storing two routines that users design from scratch. Additionally Horizon Elite treadmills are Passport ready; take Virtual Active outdoor trips! Preset programs and Virtual Active video programs can control the belt speed and deck incline to support specific treadmill exercise goals.
First, the on-board workout menu includes the following 42 programs:
- Manual: Starting with zero incline and 0.5 mph, you set the workout speed and incline.
- Calorie: Nine calorie-focused treadmill workouts have goals of burning 100 calories, 200 calories and so forth up to 900.
- Distance: Thirteen distance training programs have goals ranging from one mile to a marathon.
- Interval: Horizon’s three interval training programs are named Speed, Peak and Endurance.
- Performance: The three performance training programs are named Run/Walk, Sprint and Hill Training.
- Steps: Ten programs help you achieve daily step count goals. Choose from treadmill routines for 1000 steps, 2000 steps and so forth up to 10,000.
- Heart Rate: A customizable program helps you exercise within your specified heart rate zone for the duration of a workout.
- Custom: Treadmill users can design two programs with customized speed and interval settings.
Second, a Passport Player ($199) can link the T7-02 treadmill and your home TV, letting them work together to simulate outdoor-like exercise experiences. As your TV shows scenic footage at your walking/running pace, the treadmill moves its incline to mimic the topography. Ambient audio helps create virtual escapes from your home workout space.
The two Virtual Active video sets included with purchase of a Passport Player show Northern Italy and the American Southwest. In each region you can virtually exercise solo or with an in-screen window that shows a personal trainer and tour guide. Additional Virtual Active video trips are sold separately.
Horizon Fitness Elite T7-02 Features
This fitness machine measures 73” long and 35” wide when in use. A patented hydraulic system makes it easy to fold the frame to conserve floor space after workouts. Folding the treadmill drops its footprint dimensions down to just 44” long and 35” wide. Transport wheels are attached.
For smooth walking and running the T7-02 is equipped with a 3.0 CHP Johnson Drive motor. This motor meets the industry standard for general-purpose home treadmills in 2019, and it carries a lifetime warranty.
This treadmill has a belt maintenance recommendation of liquid silicone treatment every 300 miles. The workout belt surface measures 60” long x 20” wide, which is the standard size for health club treadmills. Top speed for the belt is 12 miles per hour.
Variable Response cushioning on Horizon Elite treadmills helps minimize the impact stress that runners naturally place on their knees. This advanced cushioning system can also help extend your running endurance, as your body is more efficient with less shock to deflect.
For added challenge and muscle toning, the Elite 7 has power incline settings up to 15 percent. Incline can be controlled manually, by built-in programs, and by Virtual Active video programs.
Virtual Active workouts (sold separately) are shown on your own home entertainment system.
If you exercise with Virtual Active video you’ll probably let yourself get immersed in the sights and ambient sounds of far-off locations. However, if you train with the standard workout programs or in manual mode, then you might like to add a magazine or multimedia entertainment. Each Horizon Fitness Elite Series treadmill has a ledge to hold a magazine or mobile device. Also built into each T7-02 treadmill console is a USB port, an iPod compatible port, and a stereo speaker set.
For the 42 built-in workouts the console has an 8.5” LCD monitor with backlighting. It simultaneously shows calories, distance, time, speed, incline, pulse and ¼-mile laps. A racetrack graphic shows your progress in 50-meter increments as motivation.
Wireless data sharing is supported with a Bluetooth connection to the ViaFit Connect mobile app. The ViaFit app for iOS and Android devices lets you automate the logging of your treadmill workouts, plus it’s compatible with other fitness apps and wearable activity trackers.
Heart rate monitoring is made simple with a Bluetooth wireless chest strap. Wireless monitoring is the most accurate, but alternatively you can grip heart rate sensors on a console bar.
A safety key is included for emergency shut-off during exercise and to prevent unauthorized use of the treadmill.
Other features include a water bottle holder and a cooling fan.
