Our Rating

Rating: 78.1/100. The Proform Desk Bike is a good way to get some exercise in if you have to work – especially if you are lucky enough to work from home. It’s good if you are a beginner or rehabilitating an injury, a little older and need to get moving. The more serious exerciser needs a stronger, more durable machine and probably with a few more gadgets. The option to add the desk attachment is what makes this desk stand out from other stationary bikes – it easily connects to the handlebars – read a memo, listen to conference call…your colleagues will never know. It will hold up to a 17” device.

The desk itself is not the best quality material, and you may need a non-slip mat for laptops; but it does its job. The large LCD window shows the standard, calories burned, speed, distance, time and heart rate; however it doesn’t light up so you will need to make sure you are in a well lit room to see your results on the monitor.

The SMR Silent Magnetic Resistance makes for a smooth and very quiet ride, which is unusual for a bike at this price point. When changing resistance levels it smoothly transitions, no noisy or disconnected interruptions. The benefit of folding up and rolling to keep out of the way is great for a small home gym. At 50 lbs. it’s light enough for most to be able to maneuver and put away. As for height, it’s high, and if you are less than 5’3 it may be a little challenging jumping on. The eight resistance levels are good for beginners or those wanting a light workout, but for those who want to go hard, they would benefit from a step up in models. The padded seats are comfortable, and the backrest offers lumbar support. The lower handlebars are good and will be needed if your desk is attached to the upright handlebars. It supports a user weight of up to 250 lbs. so it will work for most people.

The warranty is not the best, with only 90 days for parts and labor and one year for the frame.

Conclusion

Whether you are working or online browsing why not get that cardio in at the same time.  The Proform Desk Bike allows you to do just that. It’s a good stationary bike for beginners, rehab or a light workout.  The eight resistance levels will increase your endurance, tone and strength. It has the capacity to hold someone weighing up to 250 lbs which means most people can ride it, however, it may be a little tall and harder to get on for those under 5”3. Overall, it is a good bike, no bells and whistles but it does the most important thing – it gets your heart rate going and your blood circulating.
