Our Rating
Rating: 87.8. The Octane Q35 is a cross-trainer built for high performance and durability. It features Octane’s signature smooth motion, contact heart rate monitoring and four goal programs: 10K, half marathon, and 350 or 750 calorie blasts. Also included are Workout Boosters for cross training.
The Q35 has an ergonomic 20.5″ foot path, plus like other Octane cross-trainers it offers above average training for the upper body. Upper body exercise with its moving arm bars is especially effective because of the long range of motion that’s supported, which lets you burn calories efficiently. Additionally the Q35 has attachment points for Powerbands (resistance bands) that you can use for strength training and stretching.
The Q35 sells for $2,199 and carries a five-year parts warranty. Here are pros, cons, and details about its workout programming and special features.

- 20.5″ stride
- Narrow pedal spacing (1.8″)
- Built-in workout programs (8 including manual mode)
- Workout Booster programs for cross training
- Powerbands for cross training
- Contact heart rate monitor
- MOM mode for children’s safety
Cons:
- Fixed stride
- No incline
- No water bottle holder
- No cooling fan
Introduction
The Octane Q35 is the most economical of Octane’s elliptical cross-trainers. While prices for others approach $10K, this model is priced at $2,199. It has the same smooth motion and five year parts warranty of more expensive options, but it has simpler programming and a fixed stride. Overall the Q35 is a good fit for shoppers seeking high quality and simplicity from a cross-trainer. It’s not the best choice for people seeking lots of workout variety and high tech features. Here are details about the Q35’s workout programs, other features and warranty.
Workout Programs
The Q35 elliptical frame is paired with the Q35x console. This console has four goal programs that let you blast 350 calories, torch 750 calories, run 10K or take on a half-marathon challenge. Also included are Workout Boosters that support both cardio and strength training. Workout Boosters have you alternate between on-machine training and off-machine exercising. Powerbands are attached to the base of the elliptical to support some of the strength exercises, and optional side platforms add more possibilities to maximize your training time for cardio endurance and body shaping. The Workout Boosters on the Octane Q35 are named XMode, GluteKicker and ArmBlaster.
Octane Fitness Q35 Features
The Octane Q35 has a fixed 20.5″ stride. The pedal spacing is just 1.8″, which keeps your hips properly aligned to support comfortable motion.
This elliptical has moving arm bars. Their convergent design follows the natural motion you use when running, and extra resistance makes the movement more effective than when you train outdoors or with other ellipticals. Compared with other cross-trainers these arm bars have lower pivot points too. This design allows more use of your upper body, which increases calorie burn.
Octane ellipticals have Cross Circuit attachment points. These connectors at the base of the unit can hold resistance bands for stretching and strength training.
A digital contact heart rate monitor helps you stay in the best heart rate zone.
MOM mode protects young children by disabling the machine’s moving parts.
The step-up height for this machine is very low, just 4″. This makes the Q35 a good fit for rooms with low ceilings.
Warranty & Guarantee
The Octane Q35 elliptical warranty provides the following coverage:
– Frame: Lifetime
– Parts: 5 Years
– Labor: 1 Year
Conclusion
The Q35 is streamlined for an Octane elliptical yet offers lots of training possibilities. This cross-trainer is superior to others in terms of upper-body workouts, with the arm bars being especially effective, and also supports cross training with prompts for off-machine exercise. The machine is dynamic but can easily be set to keep still in case children get curious.
We prefer the advanced workout programming and wireless heart rate monitoring found on the Q47, but the Octane Q35 offers a good way to benefit from Octane Fitness biomechanics and cross training at a more economical price.
