Our Rating

Rating: 89.1/100 Want an alternative to elliptical trainers? Treat your body to the powerful yet gentle Cybex 770AT Arc Trainer. Compared with the best ellipticals, Cybex Arc Trainers allow even faster calorie burn and better joint protection. The 770AT leads its series.

How it works: The Arc Trainer supports total body training. For the lower body it promotes arc-shaped striding (an alternative to elliptical striding) that’s especially effective at toning hamstrings and glutes. The footpath is 24″ at its longest, making it possible to simulate cross-country gliding. The stride path naturally shortens as the incline is raised. A color-coded “muscle map” on the Arc Trainer touch screen indicates which lower body muscles are being worked. Also shown are the muscles recruited with upper body exercise.

Beyond its excellent biomechanics and muscle toning, the 770AT impresses with workout programming and modern tech. It’s loaded with 13 preset workouts and has a 4.3-inch touch screen for program navigation and controlling an iPod or iPhone. Also available (sold separately) is a 15.6″ HD monitor with virtual reality video workouts, live TV, on-demand TV and other features.
