5 Great Signs You Know You’re On The Right Diet Plan

So you’ve just decided that now is the time that you’re going to put forth the effort to get started on the fat loss plan you’ve been putting off for too long.

You’ve found the protocol that you wish to use and you’re now two weeks in. Is the protocol working properly? Are you going to see long-term results on this program or would you be better off abandoning ship and doing something else?

Understanding the signs that you are on a good diet plan can help you make a more informed decision about whether or not you should carry on.

Here’s what to know.

Your Hunger Is Moderate, But Tolerable

The first sign that your diet is designed properly is if your hunger level is at the moderate level. If you don’t feel any hunger at all, this could be a sign that your calorie intake is a little too high and weight loss may occur.

That said, you should be so hungry you struggle to just make it through the day. That would be a clear sign you’re taking in too little food.

Your Energy Level Is Good

The second sign that you’re on a good diet plan is if your energy level is relatively high and stable. You may find that you don’t have quite as much energy as you did when you weren’t dieting, but you shouldn’t feel so drained that just getting through the day is a challenge.

A diet that’s too low in calories or doesn’t have the right mix of macronutrients will lead to energy slumps that make you feel miserable.

You’re Losing ½ To 1 Pound Per Week

Another great sign your diet is working properly is if your weight loss is around ½ to 1 pound per week. If it’s higher than this, you may want to re-evaluate your calorie intake. Remember, losing weight too quickly can mean that you are losing lean muscle mass tissue, which is precisely what you do not want.

You Aren’t Feeling Bored

No diet should ever feel like torture, yet many people put themselves on plans that do just that.

Instead, put yourself on a meal plan that you enjoy. If you feel like each day you get to eat foods you do like the taste of and are feeling satisfied from a food volume standpoint, this is a good sign you’re on the right approach.

Always remember that you definitely do not have to do one given diet plan. Far too many people think that they have to low carb diet or otherwise when really, it’s all dependent on you.

Any diet variation can work as long as it’s set up and designed properly.

You Feel Like You Could Carry On For Months

Finally, the last sign that you’re on a good diet plan is if you feel like you could keep doing this diet for weeks or months to come.  Any diet should be a longer term approach – even once you reach your goal weight you should still be thinking about how you can maintain the same healthy eating practices you developed so that you don’t gain the weight back.

If you resort back to how you were eating before, it won’t be long before you’re looking like how you were before.

So take a good look at the current diet you’re using. Does it demonstrate these characteristics?

If not, it may be time for you to consider a change of approach to one that will serve you better over the long haul.
