Quick Summary
Rating: 88.5/100. Designed using the same model as the 9.31, treadmill adjusts belt speed to foot speed — fully complementing and supporting your natural stride — while suspension system cushions impact and stabilizes lateral movement, reducing impact on joints, increasing comfort and minimizing fatigue.
Pros:
- Quiet and powerful operating motor (3.0 CHP)
- Stable, does not feel like it’s going to break immediately
- Commercial grade frame and running deck
- Built-in cushioning system for less stress on joints
- Diverse range of pre-defined workout programs (23)
- Pulse grips and wireless heart rate monitoring
Cons:
- Would like to see a little better warranty for price paid
- Non-folding, not much of a space saver
- Not music friendly (no mp3, built-in speakers)
Introduction
Naturally, it’s hard to get comfortable on a treadmill because it is so much different when compared to walking, jogging or running outside.
As a result, the “running in place” nature of treadmills tends to break your regular running stride and influence poor jogging habits.
However, the Precor 9.35 has attempted to solve this dilemma with an innovative design that adjusts belt speed to foot speed. Therefore your natural running stride is fully supported.
The Precor 9.35 sports a unique suspension system that cushions impact and stabilizes lateral movement – reducing the impact on joints, increasing comfort, and minimizing fatigue.
Precor also provides a built in magnetic safety key, stop button and password protection for use around small children.
Workout Programs
The Precor 9.35 treadmill has 23 pre-defined workout programs with four custom-slots.
You’ll find that the 9.35 treadmill covers just about any routine you could imagine such as 5k course, fitness test, interval, manual and weight loss.
In fact, the ability to customize workouts on the 9.35 is a really great addition as you can view additional metrics, enter weight and age or selected goals.
Unfortunately, the 9.35 is not compatible with iFit Live or any of the more advanced Internet workout programs typically found on treadmills in this price range. Precor instead has chosen to create a product excelling in biomechanics, comfort and safety.
Treadmill Features
The Precor 9.35 has a quality LED display that makes it easy to access QuickStart, workout programs and User IDs.
The console also features a unique workout log and personal best tracker keeping you on target with your workouts.
Produced with only the finest quality parts, you don’t have to be an expert to appreciate all the finer details on the Precor 9.35 such as the steel crowned drive, integrated fan, multi-ply belt and phenolic laminate deck.
Built-in diagnostics present users with the opportunity to set weight, age, workout stats, interval speeds, and inclines for each user.
The pulse grips and wireless chest strap heart rate monitor keep you on pace with quick, and accurate heart rate readings.
For the price paid, it would be nice to see an iPod dock and built-in speakers (not to mention a cooling fan), but Precor has decided to place their attention on other areas of the treadmill.

The Precor 9.35 treadmill warranty and guarantee includes:
- Frame & Welds: Lifetime

Hi! I'm

I have the option of purchasing a Precor 9.35 Floor model for $3,600 or a new LifeFitness T5 Treadmill with Trac Console for $3250. Treadmill will be used by 2 to 3 adults for walking and moderate running (8 to 10 minutes per mile). What do you recommend and why?
Hi Phil,
Those are both excellent high-end treadmills, and you’ve found fantastic deals on them!
Overall, I would probably go with the Precor because of the customer reviews and the -2% incline (decline) option.
That said, in my opinion it can be a better investment to buy a model that costs much less and has better specs & features for many people, because treadmills in the $1,500-$2,000 price range (like the Sole F85 for example) can last a very long time as well. In fact, since you would be saving so much money, you would have enough money left over to buy a 2nd machine after the warranty is up, and the two combined would last significantly longer.
In general though, a good parallel to this is cars; some people prefer to pay more for luxury and/or durability, and don’t mind putting more into the name, while others choose to pay less for a different brand with less luxury and more focus on features.
The Precor brand is famous for their smooth, long-lasting machines, and they’re very good at what they do, so this is definitely a personal choice. I just wanted to bring up both schools of thought.
I hope that helps! Have a good weekend,
Kyle
