Precor 9.31 Treadmill Review
The Precor 9.31, retailed at $3,999, is one of the more expensive treadmills on the market.
Unlike a lot of other treadmills available, the Precor 9.31 does not have a lot of toys as even common entry-level features like iPod dock, built-in speakers, iFit Live compatibility, etc are strangely absent.
However, the Precor 9.31 is designed with some sophisticated technology and the commercial-grade parts are promised by the manufacture to last.
It is clear, then, where Precor has decided to place their time and focus with the 9.31 treadmill.

Introduction
The Precor 9.31 is easily not the flashiest treadmill on the market, but it is dependable.
Precor has paid a lot of attention to the performance of the treadmill, and it shows with commercial-grade production, including a 3.0 CHP motor, 22″ x 56″ running surface, built-in diagnostics and low maintenance steel crowned drive system.
The Precor 9.31 treadmill is also equipped with some of the latest technology, including Integrated Footplant Technology and the SmartRate program.
While many treadmills are becoming more compact with folding options, the Precor 9.31 is an old-school treadmill that would prefer being extremely durable and quiet during operation.
Workout Programs
For a price of just under $4,000, you would expect a few more pre-defined workout programs on the Precor 9.31 which only provides eight.
The treadmill is also not compatible with iFit workout technology; however SmartRate is a nice alternative.
The program shows your heart rate in relation to the target zone for weight loss and cardio training when using an optional wireless heart rate monitor (included with purchase).
The 9.31 treadmill also has built-in diagnostics which allow you to set weight, age, workout stats, interval speeds, and inclines for each user.
While exercising the bio-feedback center provides dedicated feedback on heart rate and calories.
The feedback in regards to your workout is stellar, we just wish there were a few more pre-defined workout programs.
Treadmill Features
If you are not overly dependent on a number of the latest electronics, the Precor 9.31 will suit you just fine.
As previously mentioned, the 9.31 treadmill has no mp3 port, built-in speakers, iFit Live compatibility, or any of the other latest electronic inclusions to the market.
The display system is basic, yet easy to read with QuickStart controls and a workout log.
Precor has dedicated a lot of time on this treadmill to the adjustable cushioning system which is really innovative. The Integrated Footplant Technology not only cushions your joints, but also matches belt speed with foot speed to optimize performance.
The Precor 9.31 treadmill also has a low maintenance steel crowned drive system, which eliminates a lot of useless noise during operation. The multi-ply belt, phenolic laminate deck, and powder-coasting process are all steps Precor took to stretch the lifespan of the trainer.
Stay cool and comfortable during the workout with a built-in cooling fan.
