Landice Treadmills Buying Guide

Although the Landice brand is pricey, you get what you pay for. The investment in your health and wellness is one that pays back when consistency is achieved, and Landice is built to last. If you’re hesitant to spend $4,000+ for a treadmill, there are several reasons that will help justify the purchase:

  • Top-Notch Warranty
    • A company with faith in the quality of their products backs them with top-notch warranties. Only Landice offers a Lifetime warranty on all parts including wear items when it comes to their home fitness treadmills, bikes, and E7 ellipticals. In fact, their fitness equipment has reportedly been passed on from one generation to the next! Landice also stands behind their touch screens with a 5-year warranty and labor for one year.
  • Above Average Weight Capacity
    • Weight capacity says a lot about a treadmill. Products with a weight capacity under 200 lbs. typically don’t last that long. Those in the 200-300 lb. range are within average quality, but Landice isn’t your average fitness brand! The weight capacity of their L7 models is 400 lbs., and L8 and L10 models can handle impressive loads of up to 500 lbs.! These capacities all indicate premium durability standards.
  • Roller Design
    • Treadmill rollers are the tube-shaped parts the belt wraps around. Since they keep the belt revolving around the deck, they play a big role in keeping your treadmill running properly. A larger roller size means a better grip on the belt and better durability expectations. Rollers that are 1.6” in diameter run the risk of running hot and causing hesitations. When shopping for a quality product, you want to shoot for 2.5”, and that’s exactly what you get in L7 models. For L8 and L10, this is amped up to 3.5”, which is above and beyond.
  • Overall Durability
    • A reversible deck like the one found on all Landice models is one that can be turned over. Naturally, this leads to improved durability. It’s the same concept as rotating your tires or flipping your mattress. Landice treadmills are not foldable, another sign of a product that’s built to last.

Whether you’re looking for a treadmill for your living room to use for walking or something to put in a 24-hour gym for constant use by serious athletes, there’s a specific Landice Treadmill that’ll meet your needs. Before we break down the series and models, though, let’s take a look at the console options.

Consoles

Pro Sports, Cardio, and Achieve: A Look at the Three Console Options

Landice treadmilss come with three console options:

  1. Pro Sports consoles provide a 9” color LCD screen with multiple motivational displays; numeric keypad for easy data entry; bluetooth to enhance workouts through the Landice app; 5 user-defined programs; time, distance, laps, and calorie goal programs; displays in English and metric configurations; and contact heart rate and wireless chest strap to monitor heart rate.
  2. For an extra $400, upgrading to the Cardio Console provides the following additional features:
    1. 9 instead of 8 built-in programs with variable time, speed, and elevation
    2. 2 HIIT programs
    3. 3 Fitness tests: Balke, Firefighter, Army
    4. 2 Built-in heart-rate monitoring programs
    5. 2 User-defined heart-rate monitoring programs
    6. For the L7 LTD, L8 LTD, and L7 Club, the extra cost is $500 and includes Broadcastvision 900 MHz that provides users crystal-clear, wireless audio from any digital or analog audio output jack
  3. If you have a large budget, the Achieve console offers the most in terms of workout programming and other features that keep your workouts engaging and fun. It can prove well worth the investment for residential use for multiple people since it can store individual data for up to four users.

Rehabilitation Console

Physical therapy and sports conditioning facilities have a lot to gain from the rehabilitation control panel offered on both the Landice Rehabilitation Series models. It features:

  • Numeric keypad with express speed and incline keys
  • 5 built-in programs with variable time, speed and incline
  • 5 user-defined programs
  • Time and distance goal programs
  • Balke and Firefighter fitness tests
  • 1 built-in heart-rate monitoring program
  • English or metric data configurations
  • Interactive contact heart-rate

Landice Treadmill Categories

Residential

Shopping for a treadmill to use in the comfort of your home? Landice offers two options, each featuring a Lifetime warranty on all parts and wear items.

Light Commercial

If you’re purchasing a treadmill for a non-dues paying facility that will undergo no more than five hours per day of usage, Landice’s LTD series is a cost-effective option geared toward reliable, limited-use application. It’s perfect for hotels, apartment complexes, and corporate gyms.

Since usage in the commercial setting is inevitably higher than residential, the LTD series is protected with a 5-year parts only/1-year labor warranty. Remember, this series is only protected for usage of up to five hours per day. If you anticipate more extensive usage, keep reading to learn about the Club Series warranty.

Commercial

Unlike light commercial use which is defined as less than five hours of daily usage, the commercial series of Landice treadmills is designed with continuous usage in mind. This would include gyms with paid memberships. The commercial series of products features a 5-year parts only/1-year labor warranty and is constructed with heavy use in mind.

Rehabilitation

Patients going through rehabilitation, physical therapy, or sport conditioning can benefit from Landice’s Rehabilitation series of treadmills. These products provide holistic benefits that promote practical rehabilitative functionality. Unlike other products that start out at 0.5 mph, rehab treadmills have a zero starting speed for safety, and their extended parallel medical handrails aid in the ability to effectively incorporate upper and lower body exercise.

Models

Residential & Light Commercial Models

Residential and Light Commercial Landice treadmills all provide a 0.5 to 12.0 mph speed range; 15% grade electric elevation; 4 HP continuous duty drive motor; 1000 pound-thrust elevation motor; rust-free aluminum frame; and a 1-inch thick, maintenance-free reversible deck.

The L8 Models of each series is more expensive, so let’s examine the differences to see if the additional investment would be worth it for your needs:

  • L7 Residential & L7 LTD
    • 20″ x 58″ running area
    • 2 1/2″ diameter, 14-pound steel rollers
    • 400 pound user weight capacity
    • Footprint: 35″ x 76″
    • Shipping weight: 345 pounds
  • L8 Residential & L8 LTD
    • 22″ x 63″ running area
    • 3 1/2″ diameter, 22-pound steel rollers
    • 500 lb. user capacity
    • Footprint: 35″ x 83″
    • Shipping weight: 435 pounds

In a nutshell, L8 is a better option for competitive runners and/or those over six feet tall. The larger running area is more accomodating and does a better job simulating outdoor environments. If you’re a walker or jogger and stand less than six feet tall, it’s probably worth the savings to go with the L7 option.

Club Models

Club models include the L7 Club and L10 Club, each featuring 15% grade electric elevation; a 1-inch thick, maintenance-free reversible deck; a rust-free aluminum frame; and a 110 VAC, 50/60Hz, 15A voltage option.

Much as was the case when comparing L7 and L8 Residential and LTD models, the L10 has advanced features that can accommodate taller runners and serious athletes who sustain higher speeds. Let’s take a look at the primary differences:

  • L7 Club
    • 0.5 to 11.0 mph speed range
    • 20″ x 58″ running area
    • 4 HP continuous duty drive motor
    • 2 1/2″ diameter, 14-pound steel rollers
    • 400 lb. capacity
    • Footprint: 35″ x 76″
  • L10 Club
    • 0.5 to 15 mph speed range (220V) OR 0.5 to 12 mph speed range (110V)
    • 22″ x 60″ running area
    • 5 HP AC drive motor
    • 3 1/2″ diameter steel rollers
    • 500 lb. capacity
    • Footprint: 83″ x 34″ x 64″

To sum it up, while both L7 and L10 Club models are designed to take on heavier loads and run cool, the L10 is a more powerful treadmill designed for the most demanding club settings.  It would be a great choice for 24/7 facilities.

Rehabilitation Models

As with the Residential and Light Commercial series, the Rehabilitation series consists of the L7 and L8 models. Each features the Rehabilitation Control Panel, a belt that goes backward for downhill simulation, a zero starting speed, extended parallel medical handrails, multiple heart rate control programs, a 4 HP continuous duty drive motor, a 1″ thick reversible deck for excellent durability, and a 0.1 to 12.0 mph speed range.

While each provides an excellent tool for rehabilitation, physical therapy, or sports conditioning, there are a few subtle differences:

  • L7 Rehabilitation
    • 20″ x 58″ four-ply treadbelt running surface
    • 2 1/2″ diameter, 14-pound steel rollers
    • 400-pound user weight capacity
    • 35″ x 76″ footprint
  • L8 Rehabilitation
    • 22″ x 63″ four-ply treadbelt running surface
    • 3 1/2″ diameter, 22-pound steel rollers
    • 500-pound user weight capacity
    • 35″ x 83″ footprint

Which Extras?

Landice treadmills can be customized several ways. Besides choosing from four control panels, you can add:

  • Long handrails (Medical rails)
  • Orthopedic cushioning
  • 19” Landice Vision entertainment center (Treadmill TV)
  • TV bracket
  • Tablet computer bracket

Orthopedic cushioning from Landice has been tested as seven times softer than a grassy track. Standard Landice cushioning is also very high quality, rated in scientific tests as three times more shock-absorbing than a grass workout surface.

The Landice treadmill TV lets you enjoy your favorite shows in different ways. It works with HDMI and coaxial cable input, and it has a remote control for Broadcastvision wireless entertainment. Content can be heard with headphones (included). Alternatively you can attach your own TV to the L7 or L8 with a bracket.

Landice Treadmill Return Policy

Landice generally ships equipment within two to five business days. Before an order ships, you can cancel by phone for a full refund. Customer service is available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. EST at 1-800-LANDICE.

If you cancel a Landice treadmill after it ships, but before delivery and set-up, you can get a refund minus the shipping cost and credit card fees. Once a treadmill has been installed, Landice does not accept returns. During your first year of ownership they will provide free in-home repair for customers who live within 60 miles of a Landice technician. If the product is a dud, Landice will provide a free replacement.

Our Verdict: Is a Landice Treadmill Right for You?

If you’re serious about fitness and ready to make a long term commitment to maintaining health and wellness, it pays to buy a Landice treadmill. Every Landice product is constructed with commercial-grade quality, and they stand behind this quality with one of the industry’s best warranties for their residential machines.

Yes, they are more expensive than some of the competition on the market, but you get what you pay for. That’s why the brand is trusted by commercial gyms, physical therapy facilities, hospitals, police & fire departments, and even pro sports teams. Whether shopping for a reliable treadmill for your home or for a fast-paced, 24/7 gym, Landice has a product on both ends of the spectrum and anywhere in-between.
