Gold’s Gym Treadmills Buying Guide
You may have seen Gold’s Gym training facilities located across the country including many gyms within the state of California. Gold’s Gym was founded by Joe Gold in 1965 and has since become one of the leading fitness providers in the country because each gym features a wide array of exercise equipment, group exercise classes as well as personal trainers to assist clients.
In terms of fitness equipment, Gold’s Gym produces trainers (like treadmills) often found in major supercenter outlets like Wal-Mart and Sears. While a lot of fitness experts would not suggest that you begin your search for a trainer at a location such as this, some of Gold’s Gym products are at least worth noting.
Self-described as “The Mecca” of local gyms, Gold’s Gym began in Venice Beach, California and has since expanded to more than 600 locations across the globe. The wealth has enabled the company to experiment with home exercise equipment including treadmills. Gold’s Gym is renowned for providing all the latest cardio and strength training equipment and is something they are attempting to capture with the home/recreational market.
How do Gold’s Gym treadmills compare to what they offer at the fitness center?
FitRated.com has reviewed the Gold’s Gym Trainer 1190 (rated 77.1), Gold’s Gym Crosswalk 570 (rated 65.1) and Gold’s Gym GG480 (rated 50.9) for 2011. All three are common at retailers like Sports Authority and even Wal-Mart. You may attribute supercenter retailers to the Under $500 market, but the Gold’s Gym Trainer 1190 is actually a reputable treadmill with many competing features. In fact, the treadmill provides a lot of value in the $1,000 to $1,500 price range.
Gold’s Gym treadmills like the Trainer 1190 provide a 2.5 CHP motor, 20″ x 60″ running surface, 12mph speed, 20 pre-defined workout programs and oversized LED display that would compare to several treadmills you might find at the actual gym. They’re not necessary the leader in treadmills, but if they can maintain the same drive that their fitness centers have established Gold’s Gym treadmills could one day compete for one of the best treadmill manufactures.
Gold’s Gym treadmills vs. The Rest
It’s time to make a decision, do you roll with a treadmill like Gold’s Gym that you might find at general retailers or do you invest something more in a treadmill with a higher price tag and reputation. Critics like to bash Wal-Mart exercise equipment (and rightfully so), but that doesn’t mean they all suck. Gold’s Gym has their fitness reputation going for them, and are looking to establish their name in a reasonable price range for the home market. Only time will tell if consumers are willing to buy into their mindset.

I purchased the crosswalk 570 last year and now it seems like it stutters when I walk.
I need a number to contact to help gt this problem solved.
Thank You
Hi Julene,
You can call the main phone number for ICON Fitness, Gold’s Gym’s parent company, at 1-800-999-3756.
They should be able to help you out.
Kyle
Unfortunately, I purchased this product already defective. It makes a horrible noise when you press the incline and undoubtedly be broken sooner than later. I have called customer service literally 4 times, have waited on hold about 20 minutes or so each time, was given a service number and this has still not been fixed. I even had the store manager from the store where I purchased it call Golds and still no response.
Should you have any problems with your machine, good luck. Golds customer service is pitiful and don’t deserve to be in business.
Sorry to hear that! I agree. Unfortunately, their customer service does have a reputation for this sort of thing.
