It can stream videos filmed in the iFit Coach spin studio, and it can synchronize Google Maps Street Views with your workout pace. Other perks include 22 resistance levels and steep maximums for power incline/decline. Below are specifics about available workouts, other features and the manufacturer’s warranty.

Workout Programs

NordicTrack Commercial Studio Cycles use iFit Coach for workout programming. The selection is literally infinite! iFit Coach workouts aren’t built into the fitness machines; you download programs of interest. Main choices include bike studio videos and interactive Google Maps programs.

Bike studio videos are the best-advertised feature of the new S10i. Videos are recorded in the iFit Coach gym, which looks like a typical high-end spin studio. Each class is led by a world-class instructor, and each workout video automates your bike’s resistance and incline/decline to follow the coach’s plan. (You can override the controls anytime.) Several dozen iFit Coach spin class videos are available at the time of this review writing, and new productions are underway.

Upper-body exercise is included in many iFit spin classes. Occasionally the instructor will guide you through exercises that use lightweight dumbbells included with the bike.

Google Maps workouts bring unlimited possibilities. iFit Coach suggests specific outdoor paths, but you can create your own map workouts too. The setup process is easy; basically you type an address or city name into Google Maps, then tap your bike’s touch screen to set the start point and finish line. iFit Coach shows the distance and elevation as you draw, so it’s simple to choose a path that fits your preferences.

Each time you ride the S10i Studio Cycle, the 10” screen will welcome you with suggested workouts. These suggestions reflect your general workout preferences, such as riding 10 miles with a moderate elevation change. The suggestions also respond to your activity log. For example, the day after an especially intense ride, iFit Coach might suggest a gentler workout.

Non-bike workout videos are also included with iFit Coach membership. You’ll have on-demand mobile access to hundreds of high quality workout classes. Using iFit Coach is akin to being a gym member, but minus the commute!

S10i Studio Cycle Features

The Commercial S10i is named for its 10-inch workout monitor. The monitor has a touch screen and shows iFit Coach workouts in high definition. Screen size is the only difference between the S10i and the higher-priced S22i.

The 10” monitor has a small ledge for holding a mobile device. The fitness machine is also iPod-compatible; it has a plug-in port and speaker system.

Power incline/decline is exceptional on this bike. Few fitness brands build exercise bikes with incline, and the S10i has NordicTrack’s steepest bike incline range with extremes of -10 and +20 percent slope. You can adjust the incline with buttons or let it be controlled entirely by an iFit Coach spin class video or other workout program.

Pedals for this bike have toe cages, so you can train at high speeds without worry of losing your footing. You can also replace the pedals with those of any road bike.

The S10i bike saddle is padded but rather small. It could be made more comfortable with a gel cover. We like how the saddle has a universal stem; you can replace the seat if desired.

A pair of three-pound dumbbells is shipped with the bike. These can be stored behind the handlebars for easy access as you pedal.

Two options are provided for heart rate monitoring. Contact sensors are built into the Studio Cycle, and you can pair the bike with a wireless chest strap (sold separately).

For help regulating your body heat, the S10i has a multi-speed fan that adjusts to your workout intensity. It also has two bottle holders.

Transport wheels are attached to the bike frame.

I loved this bike, at first. Then, the left pedal fell off, after only a month of use (last November). Calling icon fitness (manufacturer warranty) for service is awful, literally over an hour of hold time, every time. Parts were back-ordered for months. The last one will hopefully be delivered tomorrow, but they didn't even order all of the right parts (forgot to order me a crucial bolt). In order to avoid hours of wait time, I've tried to email to get the correct part sent, but now they're not answering emails, for 2 weeks. I'm also in need of good instructions on repairing the part, since it was a pre-assembled piece that isn't included in the instructions. They won't respond. I have a $2000 paperweight in my living room now. Even if you get an extended warranty (which I did), you can't use it until the manufacturer warranty expires. Please don't buy this.
