Yowza Sanibel Review

Intro

Yowza Sanibel Elliptical

The Yowza Sanibel may look like an average ellitpical and in many ways it does not stand out much from the rest of the competition.

However, Yowza has a track record of trying out different technologies and innovations and the Sanibel is no exception.

The elliptical features a new technology called Cardio Core arm motion. It’s a different approach to incorporating your upper body into the exercise and, according to early user reviews, is doing the trick.

Introduction

For starters, the Yowza Sanibel features Eddy Current Braking resistance, 16 individual levels and 21 inch stride length.

The operation is pretty decent though it would have benefited slightly from a flywheel. Also, exercise enthusiasts may critique the amount of resistance levels as some models in this price range have 18-20 levels of resistance.

Still, the Yowza Sanibel is a quality elliptical, music friendly (iPod/mp3 players, built-in speakers) with a few other enticing features.

Workout Programs

The Yowza Sanibel features the traditional pre-defined workout programs (12 to be exact) as well as two heart rate programs.

However, the elliptical really becomes enticing when you factor in the Cardio Core arm motion and fixed 25 percent incline.

The Cardio Core arm motion is a breakthrough design that targets and tones upper body muscles. A feature such as this is not really all that rare with ellipticals yet few appear to do it as well as the Sanibel.

How does it work?

Instead of the traditional two handlebars that move back and forth, there is one t-bar that moves left to right with the elliptical motion. Consequently, the upper body slightly twists with the stride, and in the process targets your abs.

Elliptical Features

We love the long, smooth 21 inch stride length and rear drive design of the Yowza Sanibel. We’re not quite as big of a fan with the 16 levels of resistance which will satisfy most users, but could be better for the price paid.

Overall, the design and construction of the elliptical is rock solid and backed by a really great warranty (more information, below).

The Sure-Fit pedals and fixed 25 percent incline are also phenomenal features that add an extra challenge to your workout. Stay motivated with the iPod dock and built-in speakers as well as cool and comfortable with an integrated cooling fan.

Monitor your heart rate with polar wireless chest strap or built-in pulse grips.

The self-pivoting SureFit pedals are a nice final touch.

Located in the ever competitive $1,500 to $2,000 price range the Yowza Sanibel does a decent job of standing out in a really challenging market. If you are searching for a dependable elliptical with innovative new features like the Cardio Core arm motion, the Yowza Sanibel is a very attractive option.
