Schwinn Ellipticals Buying Guide
Schwinn Fitness is a manufacture that provides exercise equipment, including ellipticals, exercise bikes (both upright and recumbent), treadmills as well as accessories. You probably recognize Schwinn as the famous bicycle manufacture and American icon that has managed to produce leading bikes and recreational products since 1895. Therefore, some people might be surprised to learn that the company also produces “fitness equipment” even though they have been around since 1965 when they first introduced an in-home workout machine (the Deluxe Exerciser).
Moving forward, Schwinn partnered with fitness guru Johnny Goldberg in 1995 to develop the Johnny G Spinner bike. Further innovations led to the Fitness Advisor system, and, most recently a variety of innovative upright and recumbent exercise bikes. While Schwinn is still recognized primarily as a bicycle/exercise bike manufacture they have made a lot of progress with their ellipticals including producing smaller-footprint ellipticals.
FitRated.com has reviewed the Schwinn 460 (rated 75.8), Schwinn 431 (rated 72.1), Schwinn 420 (rated 68.5) and Schwinn A40 (rated 60.4) for 2011. Schwinn utilizes the Eddy Current Braking System on all ellipticals. The Schwinn 460 made some noise earlier this year when it premiered the innovative V-stride technology, a system which allows the user to easily adjust stride length from an incredible 2 to 26 inches without having to manually adjust it. Along with V-stride, Schwinn also features 16 levels of resistance on its top three models, 300 lbs. max user weigh and 16-12 pre-defined workout programs. The Schwinn 4431 and Schwinn 420 ellipticals both feature 18 inches of stride length respectively. Along with products designed for the resident market, Schwinn also produces a line of commercial fitness equipment.
Schwinn breaks down their ellipticals into three essential components:
- Smooth, Easy Feel
- Low Impact Results
- Multiple Workout Positions
