Best Schwinn Ellipticals of 2024

Schwinn ellipticals let you get toned at home for less than the average elliptical price. Schwinn Fitness sells two models factory-direct in 2019, and both are priced under $1,000 including delivery.

These fitness machines have front drives to save on space and costs, but each supports a natural-feeling 20” elliptical path. Both the Schwinn 470 ($899) and Schwinn 430 ($799)are equipped with special features too, and the machines are especially strong in terms of workout guidance and data feedback.

Partly because of their cost-cutting resistance systems, Schwinn elliptical trainers for 2019 are best considered “starter machines.” They aren’t powerful enough for the most experienced trainees, and they aren’t built to serve for many years.

In our review the Schwinn 470 Elliptical is the better buy, mainly because it has power incline. (The Schwinn 430 has manual incline.) The 470 is also the only model with RunSocial workout programs and Bluetooth for sending your fitness data to a mobile app for storage. To make quick comparisons, see our Schwinn ellipticals chart below.

Most exciting, ellipticals with iFit let you virtually tour the world! Using Google Maps data the iFit Coach app can 1) stream interactive views of real routes and 2) adjust the fitness machine’s incline to mimic topography. You might be training indoors, but your online self can stride through sunflower fields, scale mountaintops and explore city streets.

If you upgrade to iFit Coach Plus you’ll automatically receive personalized virtual route suggestions every day. For example, you might log into the app and see routes based on your preferred workout length or calorie burn goal.

Schwinn Ellipticals Buying Guide

This guide presents the two Schwinn ellipticals for 2020: the 470 and 430. Below are overviews and elliptical comparisons, warranty info and a brief profile of Schwinn Fitness.

Comparing Schwinn Ellipticals for 2020

The Schwinn 470 is the brand’s top factory-direct option in 2019. Full price is $899. Meanwhile the Schwinn 430 is this year’s cheaper Schwinn Fitness elliptical at just $799. Free delivery is a common promotion with both models.

General performance specs for each machine include a 13-pound drive, moving and static handlebars, a 20” stride, and incline to 10 percent… but when we get more specific about these features, the 470 has an edge. Its drive is a bit higher quality, offering especially tailored resistance with 25 settings instead of 20. Also the 470’s incline is more appealing: It can be automated by workout programs or buttons, whereas the Schwinn 430 Elliptical incline only takes manual adjustments.

Workout programming for both Schwinn ellipticals is generous for the discount price. Each machine can hold multiple user profiles, and more than 20 programs are built into each console. The 470 has a slightly larger selection of on-board workouts, and it can store up to four user profiles while the 430 can hold two. Both trainers feature workout programs that are controlled by heart rate data received from a Polar chest strap (sold separately).

Of the two machines, only the 470 Elliptical is built for connecting with RunSocial. RunSocial lets you virtually experience 19 trails from around the world with interactive views on your mobile device or home entertainment system. You can train solo or interact with other RunSocial app users along your route.

With both new Schwinn ellipticals the data feedback is impressive. The machines support your progress by presenting long-term performance data along with info about your current session. Additionally the Schwinn 470 has Bluetooth for automatically exporting your workout info to fitness logging apps.

Amenities on both machines include a media rack, a USB charging port, stereo speakers, a three-speed fan and a large water bottle holder.

Schwinn Return Policy and Warranties

Schwinn elliptical machines have satisfaction guarantees. You can return the 430 or 470 within six weeks for any reason and receive a refund minus shipping and a restocking fee, if applicable. You’ll need a merchandise return authorization number before shipping a product back to the factory.

The standard home-use warranty with each Schwinn Fitness elliptical includes 10 years of coverage for the frame, two years for parts and one year for electronics. The labor warranty is 90 days.
