Schwinn 431 Review

Intro

Schwinn 431

The Schwinn 431 is very comparable to both the Schwinn 420 and 430 ellipticals with a few enhanced features.

At first glance, the 431 looks almost identical to the other models. However, improvements include several more workout programs, improved heart rate monitoring, enhanced LCD display and mp3 compatibility that the other ellipticals do not support.

Schwinn ellipticals are traditionally highly rated on websites like Amazon and you can see why because they are usually a solid value for the price.

Introduction

Schwinn has wisely decided to stick with the formula that made the Schwinn 420 and 430 models so popular. Thankfully, they have also upped the ante slightly.

The Schwinn 431 is able to meet most exercise demands thanks to the 16 individual levels of computer-controlled resistance, 18 inch stride length, bi-directional pedals and 25 lb. flywheel.

One of the more noticeable new features with this elliptical is the iPod/mp3 compatibility. Finally, you can sync up your personal music device with a budget elliptical.

Of course, you’re paying slightly more for the extra features of the Schwinn 431, but it definitely seems like a smart investment.

Workout Programs

The Schwinn 431 elliptical boasts 19 workout programs, which is one of the highest number of pre-defined programs that we have seen in the $500-$1,000 price range.

Besides featuring 10 profile programs, the Schwinn 431 includes a calorie goal program, fitness test and time trial program.

Design your own workout with two available custom programs or manually set the 431 to reach your fitness goals.

The BioConnect computer displays input data and measures a variety of workout results such as time, distance, pulse, speed and resistance.

Track your workout progress and achieve desired results quicker while viewing feedback programs such as Recovery Mode, Results Mode and BMI.

The Schwinn 431 is also equipped with three heart-rate programs and integrated pulse grips.

Elliptical Features

The Schwinn 431 targets all major muscle groups with innovative bi-directional pedaling as well as providing a smooth stride with its 25 lb. flywheel and computer controlled drive system.

Set the handlebars to either fixed or moving mode and listen to your mp3 or iPod without annoying background noise due to the Eddy Current magnetic brake resistance system.

Increase your stride with 16 different resistance levels and avoid slippage with oversized cushioned footplates.

Not only does the Schwinn BioFit console design keep you abreast with all of your latest stats, the console is outfitted with a towel hook, 3-speed cooling fan, reading rack and water bottle holder.
