Introduction

The Precor EFX 423 is among the best elliptical trainers for exclusively lower body workouts. While it meets standards for commercial elliptical trainers, it’s one of Precor’s luxury ellipticals for home gyms. This fitness machine is designed to deliver many years of workouts with lots of variety; some specs include 20 incline settings, 20 resistance levels, 10 workout programs and reversible elliptical motion. You can also add your tablet computer or iPod for motivation. Here are details about the workout programs, features and long warranty for the EFX 423.

Workout Programs

The Precor EFX 423 has 10 workout programs including manual mode. These workouts can automate the resistance and incline levels to help you get efficient exercise. The program names are 1-1 Interval, 1-2 Interval, Weight Loss, Basic HRC, Aerobic, Hill Climb, Cross Country, Gluteal, Cross Trainer and Manual. The latter five on that list can display tips to help you maximize each workout.

Data can be saved for two user profiles. Having a profile lets you retrieve your previous workout and get the most accurate estimates of calorie burn and heart rate. The data fields shown during training are Time Elapsed, Time Remaining, Calories, Calories/Min, Distance, Strides/Min, Average Strides/Min, Resistance, Percent Complete Heart Rate, Target Heart Rate and SmartRate® Zone. After each workout a summary is shown. This includes Time Elapsed, Total Calories, Total Distance and Average Strides/Min.

The Precor EFX 423 is a very good elliptical with stationary handlebars. It’s only built for lower body training, and it does this job well for all fitness levels… But if you might prefer a luxury elliptical trainer with moving arm bars, see the EFX 425 and 447.
